The village of Gela is located in the Central Rhodope mountains at 1500 m above sea level just at the foot of the most imposing peaks of the Rhodope mountains – peak Golyam Perelik (2191 m), peak Orpheus (2188 m) and peak Tourlata (1825 m). The village is located 6 km from Shiroka Laka, 18 km from the famous Pamporovo ski resort and 30 km from the city of Smolyan. The lovely Gela hotel is located in the center of the village and is the starting point of many tourist routes. It was built in 1956 of the last century as a local school. In the 80s it was reconstructed in a hotel and recently renovated. The Gela hotel combines the local tradition with the modern conveniences. Each room has Satellite/cable TV, radio, bath/WC, and balcony. Hotel facilities consist of parking  lot and an Ethno restaurant.
